Today we take a look at the upcoming major events in sport for the month of May 2017.



- The month kicked off with the 2017 European Wrestling Championships, taking place in Novi Sad, Serbia. 
 - In Tennis, the Madrid Open commenced on the 5th May, with the final taking place on May 14th.
 - From May 11-14 in Golf, The 2017 Players Championship will take place at TPC Sawgrass in Florida as Australia's own Jason Day looks for a positive result after being last year's champion.
 - The weekend of May 20-21 in Rugby will be the seventeenth edition of the London Sevens tournament, taking place at Twickenham in London.
 - The 2017 FIFA Under-20 World Cup commences on May 20, hosted in South Korea.
 - Also in Soccer, the UEFA Europa League Final will take place on May 24 at the Friends Arena in Sweden.
 - May 29 marks the beginning of the 2017 World Table Tennis Championships, hosted by Germany.
 - Also in Rugby, the 2017 World Rugby Under 20 Championship commences on May 31st in Georgia.
 - State of Origin 2017 begins May 31st, as New South Wales takes on Queensland at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane.

As can be seen, this May is a big month in sport and has something for all sports fans!

A World of Cricket The world-wide sport of Cricket has origins tracing back to 16th-century England, and since then has not only developed into a widely popular game, but also an iconic part of Australian sport.
